What I Do
I work independently and collaboratively to answer interesting questions in evolution, ecology, and organismal biology. I also help students develop their own independent projects so they can incorporate scientific skills into their own careers.
I help students think like scientists through inquiry and student-centered learning. I do this by applying teaching principles that are supported by the science of teaching and learning.
I provide service to my department, university, and community. This means interacting with voting citizens, kids, and other scientists. Often, this includes writing and speaking about science or maybe even just letting a fifth-grader hold a salamander.
